But it would appear that the 26-year-old would have gotten himself situated by his third outing of the season, as he would go three innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night, fanning eight batters in the process, and above all, not allowing a run to come across the plate, which brought his ERA down to 10. 80. Smith has been optioned to Triple-A Smith’s one-hit outing could’ve been viewed as something to build on in his coming starts, but it appears that he’ll have to wait before getting that opportunity.
