Former Watford and Colchester defender Garvey dies

Watford pay tribute to their promotion-winning defender Brian Garvey who has died at the age of 88.

He was part of the Hornets side which won the Third Division title in the 1968-69 season and made 201 appearances, scoring two goals, in a five-year stay at Vicarage Road between 1965 and 1970. Garvey started out at Hull City before joining Watford and finished his professional career at Colchester United where he helped the Essex club win the Watney Cup and famously beat Leeds United in the FA Cup in 1971.
