Former Lady Vols director of video Josh Theis following Gabe Lazo to UCF
Former Lady Vols basketball video coordinator Josh Theis is following Gabe Lazo to UCF as an assistant coach and video coordinator.
Lady Vols basketball staffer Josh Theis is following former assistant coach Gabe Lazo to UCF , the program announced April 8. Theis has been the director of video and creative content for Tennessee for the last five seasons. He was with the program for seven seasons, starting out as a graduate manager under former coach Kellie Harper before being promoted.
Theis was announced as an assistant coach and video coordinator on Lazo's staff. "Working alongside Josh over the past two years, I’ve seen first hand how passionate he is for the game and his energy for elevating the experience of our student-athletes," Lazo said in a school release. "He’s a versatile up and coming star who will make an impact across the board, he has the qualities that we’ll be instilling in Orlando!
" Lazo, who resigned from Tennessee's staff on March 27, originally was hired as an LSU assistant on March 31 before he was hired as the UCF women's basketball coach on April 4. UCF's release said Theis worked "hand-in-hand" with Lazo to create videos and other digital content for social media. This past season, he also assisted the coaching staff in scouting reports and coordinating all aspects of film exchange and video editing.
UCF's release also gave Theis credit for working with Lazo to secure the signing of the 2025 class, which ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN, and the transfer class last offseason. "I am super grateful for this opportunity Coach Lazo has given me," Theis said in a school release.
