McIlroy was joined by several other former champions of the iconic tournament at the dinner, including Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson. Their fellow legend Gary Player was also in attendance, and the South African was keen to officially welcome McIlroy to the exclusive club afterwards. Posting on X , he accompanied it with the simple message: “Welcome to the club, Rory. GP. ” It’s a classy touch from Player, who has undoubtedly helped McIlroy feel at home at Augusta National.
Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson, who are all playing at The Masters this year, were also in attendance. But unfortunately missing out were legendary figures Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The former has decided to step away from golf to focus on his health, while the latter is dealing with a family matter.
