Notre Dame commit shuts recruitment down, won’t flip as teams pursue
Notre Dame had a scare with one of its best 2027 commits, but a report says that he’s now locked in after a visit to an SEC program.
Notre Dame football has had a very good track record of getting a commit and keeping it, and you can add another to that list. Cornerback Ace Alston made his pledge to the Irish last December, as the 5-foot, 11-inch and 175-pound corner had multiple teams going hard after him. It was the Florida Gators that had the most lucky trying to get the nation’s No.
85 overall player in the 247Sports Composite , as they recent hosted him for an unofficial visit. The good news is that according to Kyle Kelly of On3 (subscription required) , Alston won’t be changing his mind. The visit to Gainesville confirmed that he wanted to be in South Bend and won’t be flipping.
Recruiting really isn’t over until a prospect signs, but Notre Dame fended off a hard charge by Florida to keep Alston. He’s one of the best corners in the country, and there’s no place like South Bend to be a lock-down member of the secondary. Other schools are have been in pursuit of elite Notre Dame CB commit Ace Alston ( @acemoney_6 ), but he tells @ByKyleKelly that he's shut down his recruitment 🙌☘️ https://t.
