Texas A&M has contacted Loyola Marymount transfer forward
According to a source, Texas A&M has contacted Loyola Marymount transfer forward Jalen Shelley.
Texas A&M's first season under head coach Bucky McMillan was a massive success, given where the program stood after Buzz Williams suddenly departed for Maryland, leaving the former Samford coach scrambling through the transfer portal to build a roster and compete for the NCAA Tournament. Thanks to elite performances throughout the season from senior forward Rashaun Agee, McMillan's small ball lineup finished 22-12 and 11-7 in the SEC, thanks to a strong start in SEC play, and while a four-game losing streak nearly wrecked the Aggies' chances at reaching the postseason, late-season wins over Kentucky and LSU were more than enough to earn McMillan's first roster a 10-seed in the big dance. After defeating Saint Mary's in the first round, the Aggies fell to 2-seed Houston by over 30-points, but given the program's rebuilding state before the season began, Texas A&M is on the rise under Bucky McMillan's guidance.
However, with the transfer portal officially open, the Aggies have already lost two key players, including sophomore guard Ruben Dominguez, and need to add more size to the front court, and at least one more scoring guard to the mix. This early in the process, Texas A&M has been linked to multiple transfer players, including Loyola Marymount forward Jalen Shelley, who averaged 13. 7 PPG, 6.
6 RPG, and 2. 7 APG in his final season with the Lions. Standing 6'8" and 210 pounds, Shelley shot nearly 46% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc.
McMillan's system requires its forwards to play inside-out, and while Shelly thrives in the post, attempting more three-point shots while still producing in the paint gives the Aggies an instant-impact starter with a ton of potential next season. Bucky McMillan and his staff have been in contact with Jalen Shelley early in the portal. The Little Elm, TX native emerged last year at Loyola Marymount, averaging 13.
