Meet Jackson Herrington, Tennessee sophomore who might outdrive Masters field

Tennessee sophomore and Dickson native Jackson Herrington won't be intimidated at the Masters this week. He'll be one of the field's longest hitters.

Virgil Herring didn’t need to hear it from someone else. The longtime Brentwood-based swing coach has been working with Tennessee men's golf star Jackson Herrington for 14 years. Herrington’s been outdriving his peers since he was 6 years old at Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin.

Herring already knows about Herrington’s raw power. But this week, PGA Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood witnessed it during an April 6 practice round with Herrington in preparation for the 2026 Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia. One of golf's four majors, the first round takes place April 9 and concludes April 12.

“I mean, (Fleetwood) was totally blown away. That’s the No. 5 player in the world and he’s leaving him pretty speechless,” Herring said.
