Ben Cowles returns to Iowa Cubs after eventful offseason
Ben Cowles is back with the Cubs after bouncing around multiple organizations in the offseason.
As Ben Cowles jumped from organization to organization during a crazy offseason, the Iowa Cubs infielder picked up a variety of gear from his temporary employers. Most of it, from the Cubs, White Sox and Blue Jays, ended up going to friends whenever Cowles latched on to a new team. “It’s definitely a cool gift,” Cowles said.
There was definitely lots to give up during a busy offseason, but Cowles hopes he’s done giving things away and believes he’s finally found a home in the Cubs organization. He’s in the midst of his third stint with the club after beginning the Triple-A season with the Iowa Cubs. “I’m happy to be back,” Cowles said.
“It was a little wild offseason. ” Wild is one way to word it. Cowles spent most of it changing teams.
That’s nothing new since the former Maryland Terrapins star has been bouncing around ever since the New York Yankees selected him in the 10 th round of the 2021 draft. Cowles was in the minors with the Yankees until July of 2024 when he was shipped to the Cubs, along with right-handed pitcher Jack Neely, in the trade for Mark Leiter Jr. Cowles spent the rest of the season and the start of the 2025 campaign in the Cubs organization, even reaching Iowa.
