Nebraska announces change in leadership of women's gymnastics team

Yahoo Sports

Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen has announced a change in leadership of the women's gymnastics program. Head coach Heather Brink will not have her contract renewed after eight seasons on the job. Brink’s contract is set to expire on June 30, 2026, and Nebraska will pay out the remaining balance.

She took over as head coach in 2019 after competing for the Huskers from 1997 to 2000. Nebraska finished 12th at the Big Ten Championships in March and fourth-place in an NCAA Regional second round. The Huskers have qualified for the NCAA Regionals each of the past four seasons but have not advanced past the second round.

Athletic Director Troy Dannen has announced that a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately. “I want to thank Heather Brink for her service to our women’s gymnastics program and Husker Athletics. Heather has a great history here as a student-athlete, an assistant coach and as head coach, and she will always be known as one of the greatest Huskers.

Moving forward, we will look for the right individual to build on the foundation Heather has put in place and elevate our program back to being a Big Ten and national contender. ” Nebraska has contracted with Elevate College to assist with the search for the next head coach of the women’s gymnastics program.
