(John Gutierrez/John Gutierrez for Austin Americ) Tudor, a junior shortstop in his first year on varsity for Lake Travis, had a night to remember after going 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles and six RBIs as the Cavs routed rival Westlake 11-1 in six innings in a District 26-6A contest at Westlake High School. “I was just seeing the ball well, and when I got down in the count, I was just trying to work the other way,” Tudor said.
“I slapped some (pitches) hard over (to right field) on a line, found gaps and used my speed to get around the bases. ” Tudor’s bases-clearing triple highlighted the Cavs’ four-run second inning that broke open a 1-1 tie. He hit an RBI double in the fourth and ripped a two-run double the next inning as Lake Travis eventually built a double-digit lead.
“It feels great to do that, especially against (Westlake),” he said. “Their student section is loud and their dugout is loud, and that’s what we thrive off of. We like adversity and like to fight through it.
