After one of the greatest scoring heaters ever by a teenager, Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg finally looked human. Flagg finished with 25 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-25 shooting from the field. Yes, 25 points qualifies as an off night for Flagg, who scored a combined 96 points over his previous two games — the most ever by a teenager in NBA history.
Still, Flagg’s aggressiveness through a cold shooting night was an encouraging sign for the Mavericks, who fell 116-103 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night. While Flagg cooled off, Marvin Bagley III turned in a strong performance for Dallas. He finished with 21 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.
Bagley and Flagg helped the Mavericks erase much of a 23-point first-quarter deficit and briefly take the lead in the third quarter. Since being acquired from the Washington Wizards, Bagley is averaging 10. 2 points and 6.
1 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range. Bagley made a 3-pointer for the third consecutive game. The Mavericks will face the Suns on Wednesday night.
