Premier League secures fifth Champions League slot for next season The Premier League has officially secured a fifth Champions League place for the 2026/27 season . UEFA’s European Performance Spot (EPS) system rewards the two best-performing leagues across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. England has once again come out on top.

Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Sporting CP in the first leg of their quarter-final tie proved decisive, effectively confirming the Premier League’s place in the top two of the coefficient rankings. England have led the standings for much of the campaign, boasting an impressive 25. 013 coefficient points, well clear of second-placed Spain.

All nine English representatives in European competitions reached the last 16 and consistently picked up results throughout the league phase and knockout rounds. Fifth place in the Premier League will now guarantee Champions League football next season. Liverpool, currently occupying that spot on 49 points, are the biggest beneficiaries for now, but the race is far from over.

Just seven points separate Liverpool in fifth from Bournemouth down in 13th, with Chelsea, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Brighton, Sunderland and Newcastle United all packed in between. The battle for European qualification has expanded, turning what was once a top-four fight into a high-stakes scramble involving half the table. There is also the potential for even more Premier League representation.
