The Reds' ace wasn't perfect, but he did his job against the Miami Marlins.

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Andrew Abbott has been a model of reliability since last season. The southpaw went 10-7 with a 2. 87 ERA over 29 starts in 2025 and has a 3.

18 ERA over three starts this year. Abbott allowed two earned runs on six hits over 5. 1 innings against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, with two strikeouts and two walks.

The 26-year-old allowed just one baserunner over the first three innings before running into trouble in the bottom of the fourth. Abbott gave up a leadoff double to Agustin Ramirez before Jakob Marsee reached on a bunt single that moved Ramirez to third. The Marlins then hit two straight RBI groundouts, which accounted for the only two runs that the Virginia native gave up.

Other than two infield singles, Abbott didn't allow any more baserunners until the sixth, when Marsee singled before Otto Lopez flied out. The 2025 All-Star then walked the next two hitters, and that ended his outing. Reliever Pierce Johnson bailed out Abbott, as Marsee got thrown out at home on a fielder's choice in the next at-bat and Liam Hicks struck out to end the frame.
