At least temporarily, they benched Ryan McMahon. In his place, they started Amed Rosario at third base. Rosario made it look brilliant.
The righty hitter slugged two home runs in a 5-3 Yankees win over the Athletics at the Stadium. It's not an assignment Rosario was expected to get much, if at all. He was on the roster to start with a platoon advantage against left-handed pitching.
On Tuesday, though, the A's were starting a righty, Aaron Civale. That'd normally be McMahon's gig. But McMahon has started this season 2-for-23 with 11 strikeouts.
