The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for a breakout 2026 season from wide receiver Roman Wilson, but one NFL analyst believes Wilson's time in Pittsburgh could come to an end in the coming weeks.
Steelers Wire's Andrew Vasquez lists Wilson as a possible Steelers trade candidate for the upcoming draft. "Wilson hasn't quite lived up to the hype through two years, but it's not entirely his fault — the opportunity just hasn't been there. And that's not likely to change anytime soon, with DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman expected to be the top receivers for the foreseeable future," Vasquez said.
Chiefs, 49ers, and Raiders should have interest in Wilson Wilson's rookie season was cut short in 2024 due to a hamstring injury , but he had a strong preseason in 2025 and was expected to make a massive leap. However, Wilson fell out of Pittsburgh's wide receiver rotation during the middle of the year and had just 166 yards and touchdowns on the season. Pittsburgh could look to cut ties with Wilson and roll with another option at WR3 behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.
If that transpires, the Kansas City Chiefs , San Francisco 49ers , and Las Vegas Raiders could have interest in the young receiver. All three teams could use more playmakers on their offenses, and could take a flyer on Wilson, who still possesses a ton of potential. Retaining Wilson for the 2026 season would be a logical move by the Steelers, but moving him for an additional pick in the draft would also make some sense.
