Star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence requested a trade from the New York Giants on Monday, and the Green Bay Packers could be a possible landing spot for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Though the Packers signed Javon Hargrave this offseason to pair with Devonte Wyatt, general manager Brian Gutekunst could look to make a blockbuster move to take the defensive line to the next level, and trading for Lawrence would definitely be a major acquisition. Packers and Giants trade proposal for Lawrence As for what it would take for Green Bay to land Lawrence, A to Z Sports' Wendell Ferreira proposes a deal that would send the 28-year-old defensive lineman to the Packers, with the Giants receiving wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, defensive tackle Karl Brooks, pick 52 in April's draft, and a 2027 third-round pick. "The Packers donโt have a first-round pick in each of the next two years after trading for Micah Parsons, which makes any type of deal extremely hard to pull off.
In this case, trying to make things more enticing to the Giants, we add Wicks and Brooks as part of a package that also includes two Day 2 picks over the next two seasons," Ferreira wrote. Lawrence joining forces with Hargrave and Wyatt on Green Bay's defensive line would be absolutely lethal and elevate the Packers' defense into one of the NFC's elite. Giving up Wicks and Brooks in the deal would also be reasonable.
Though both players are young and have some promise, neither is an established long-term piece for the Packers. Trading a pair of second-round picks for Lawrence would be a steep price, especially with Green Bay not having much draft capital over the next few years due to the Micah Parsons trade. However, New York isn't going to give away its franchise defender for cheap, so it could be what it takes.
