Colin Barczi leaves Vanderbilt baseball vs Eastern Kentucky with apparent injury

Colin Barczi, the Vanderbilt baseball catcher/designated hitter, left the Commodores' April 7 contest with Eastern Kentucky at Hawkins Field after one inning. Barczi, who was in the lineup at DH, swung and missed at the first pitch he saw and then called over the trainer. He remained in the game at that time, hit a single and scored a run, but in his next plate appearance in the second inning, he was pinch-hit for by Max Jensen.

Barczi suffered a shoulder injury in February that cost him nearly a month of the season. He returned the second week of SEC play but was limited to only DH duties and has not made an appearance at catcher since the injury. It is unclear if the reason he left the game was due to re-aggravating the same injury or if it was a different one.

Vanderbilt led 2-0 at the time Barczi left the game. Starting pitcher Connor Hamilton also left the game after one inning, though it was unclear if the removal was due to injury. This story will be updated.
