Vincent Kompany’s side showed great quality on the pitch and were the better side. VK does have areas to address before the second leg in Munich.

While Bayern could have scored more with some better shooting, Harry Kane is happy with the overall result of the game. In an interview with Football on TNT , Harry Kane recalled the hype around the high profile fixture and the magnitude of the challenge as he summarized the game. His thunderous strike in the opening minutes of the second half gave Bayern a crucial two goal cushion that made the difference at the end of the day.

Interviewer: Harry, well done. 2-1 on the night. You must be absolutely delighted because this is a tough place to come.

Harry Kane: Absolutely. Obviously we knew before the game all the hype around it — coming to Madrid and the Bernabéu and trying to get a result was always a difficult thing to do. But I thought we played some really good stuff today.
