April 7 out of town scoreboard watch: Rooting guide for the Sixers

Yahoo Sports

Here is an out-of-town scoreboard watch for Tuesday, including a rooting guide for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are idle on Tuesday night as they continue with their prep for the Houston Rockets on Thursday. The Sixers are in the middle of their final 3-game road trip of the regular season as they look to nail down a top 6 spot in the Eastern Conference. In terms of who to root for on Tuesday night for the Sixers to get into the top 6, it's simple.

One will root for the Miami Heat to go into Scotiabank Arena and beat the Toronto Raptors. A Raptors loss would vault the Sixers back into the No. 6 seed as they hold the tiebreaker over Toronto due to better divisional record.

While on the flip side, a Heat win would draw them closer to Philadelphia with them holding the tiebreaker, the Sixers will likely stay ahead of Miami when it's all said and done. Philadelphia closes with the Rockets, the Indiana Pacers, and the Milwaukee Bucks which means the Sixers will likely win enough games to stay ahead of the Heat. Another one to watch is a matchup at TD Garden between the Charlotte Hornets and the Boston Celtics.

The Cs still have something to play for as they look to hold off the New York Knicks and earn the No. 2 seed going into the playoffs, and Sixers fans should root for Boston. If the Hornets were to walk away with a win over the Celtics, they would jump the Sixers in the standings and drop Philadelphia to No.
