Softball: MACCRAY Wolverines hope to pick up where they left off
Apr. 7—RAYMOND — The MACCRAY softball team is looking to carry over its solid play from the end of the 2025 season into '26. The Wolverines went 7-17 last season, with two of those wins coming in the Section 3A playoffs.
That included a win over Renville County West in the first round of 3A-North play and a victory against Murray County Central in the consolation bracket. It was the first time MACCRAY got a playoff win since 2021. "(We) played well at the end of the year," said Wolverines head coach Nancy Thoma, who is entering her 48th season of coaching.
Her assistants are Brian Brandt, Jaimi Heida and Kaitlynn Kienholz. The Wolverines bring back a pair of seniors. Fifth-year starter Reyna Mendoza will see time at third base and at pitcher.
Annabelle Lorenzen is a designated player who hit for a . 333 batting average last season. Three juniors are back in starting roles.
Leia Colby is a four-year starter and hit . 333 last season. She'll play shortstop and pitcher.
