Jonathan Tah implores Bayern Munich to ‘finish the job’ next week vs. Real Madrid
Can FC Bayern put the final nail in the coffin next week?
Real Madrid's French forward #10 Kylian Mbappe (L) vies for the ball with Bayern Munich's German defender #04 Jonathan Tah during the UEFA Champions League quarter final first leg football match between Real Madrid CF and FC Bayern Munich at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid on April 7, 2026. The Bavarians won the match based on grit, heart, and the ability to make two big offensive plays that resulted in goals.
However, Bayern Munich likely left four or five other really excellent chances on the pitch — a level of inefficiency that typically does not result in a win vs. Real Madrid. Center-back Jonathan Tah lamented the misses, but also said that the work was not nearly done after this win.
“We’re very happy with the win and also with the way we played. We played with a lot of conviction at a difficult away ground. I feel we could’ve scored more goals.
We put ourselves in a good situation for next week and now we have to finish the job,” Tah said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). Finishing the job will not be easy, but if any team can hold off a surging Real Madrid side, it is this season’s version of Bayern Munich.
