Kam Williams returning to Kentucky Wildcats Basketball
This was a tough decision for Williams, but he’s returning to Kentucky Basketball.
Kam Williams has taken nearly all of his time deciding on whether he’s staying with the Kentucky Wildcats or entering the transfer portal. Fans have been anxiously waiting for Williams’ decision, but the wait is finally over. On Tuesday, news broke that Williams is staying with Kentucky, bringing the Cats a 3-point shooting and perimeter defensive presence that will be heavily welcomed.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported the news first on Tuesday via Twitter . Battling through a slow start and a broken foot, Williams became one of Kentucky’s most reliable and important players in SEC play and Postseason play. With Williams, the Cats have a solid floor going into next season.
While the roster will be mostly filled with players from the transfer portal, there will be some returning players. Williams got a lot of minutes and worked his way into the starting lineup in the middle of the season in 2025-26. Now, he’s going to be a likely starter and one of Kentucky’s most important players.
The toughness and mental fortitude he showed last year in coming back from a broken foot in less than two months were extraordinary. If Collin Chandler stays with the Cats, Kentucky will have two really good shooters on next year’s team. In 24 games and seven starts this past season, Williams averaged six points per game and shot 44.
