Brewers announcer Jeff Levering hopes to return soon after stomach bug

The Brewers announcing staff has been stretched a bit on the current road trip with TV/radio voice Jeff Levering sidelined by an illness.

Milwaukee Brewers dual-threat announcer Jeff Levering hasn't been participating in radio or TV game broadcasts on the current road trip, replaced by radio voice Josh Maurer on television, but Levering posted April 6 that he expects to be back soon. "Appreciate everyone asking about my health these last few days," Levering wrote on X . "Nasty stomach bug ripped through me.

Resting up but am so thankful for (Maurer) stepping up in the clutch and (Lane Grindle) riding solo on the radio for the last three days. Best teammates in the game. " Grindle usually shares the radio duties with Maurer on the road, at least when Levering is in the TV booth, but Grindle has been handling broadcasts on his own this trip.

The typical arrangement features Levering on TV, with Grindle and Maurer on radio until Brian Anderson's busy Turner Broadcasting schedule relents in the summer, when he's available for a slate of 50 or so Brewers games. At that point, Levering bounces back to play-by-play on the radio alongside Grindle. With Anderson and Levering both unavailable, Maurer has been handling play-by-play in the TV booth along with Vinny Rottino, a former Brewers player who's in his sixth season handling TV analyst duties on some road broadcasts.

Brewers primary TV analyst Bill Schroeder seldom travels for road games. This is Levering's 12th season covering Brewers games. He initially joined as a radio-only voice alongside Bob Uecker but has seen his TV workload increase dramatically in recent years.
