Former Panthers TE to re-sign with Raiders
A (former) longtime Panthers tight end is returning to the team he left Carolina for.
A familiar face seems to be making himself familiar in another place. According to ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, tight end Ian Thomas is expected to re-sign with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year deal. The 29-year-old veteran spent the first seven seasons of his pro career as a member of the Carolina Panthers .
That tenure began when the Panthers selected Thomas out of Indiana University in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. His best season to date came that very year as rookieโwhere he he amassed career-highs in receptions (36), receiving yards (333) and receiving touchdowns (two). Thomas joined the Raiders on a one-year pact last offseason.
