Siena star officially following Gerry McNamara to Syracuse
After scoring 21 points in the Saints' ill-fated upset bid against Duke, Gavin Doty is following his coach to central New York.
One of the top stars at the mid-major level is heading to the ACC. On Tuesday, Siena guard Gavin Doty announced that he is following coach Gerry McNamara to Syracuse. Doty, who scored 21 points in a first-round March Madness loss to Duke, announced his plans to enter the transfer portal following the NCAA tournament.
Doty averaged 18. 0 points and 6. 9 rebounds this past season, and the 6-foot-5 sophomore garnered First Team All-MAAC honors.
He was widely expected to follow McNamara, a former player at Syracuse and assistant under Jim Boeheim, to central New York. Now, he has made things official with the Orange. Wouldnโt want to go to war with anyone else๐ช๐งก๐ @Coach_McNamara pic.
