Where Texas softball ranks in April 7 poll after losing SEC series to Alabama
Texas Longhorns softball lost its first SEC series of the season against Alabama. But did the team remain atop the national poll?
After dropping its first SEC series of the season at Alabama, Texas softball fell to No. 4 in the national rankings. Texas Tech took over the top spot in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll released Tuesday.
Texas (32-4, 9-3 SEC) fell behind the Red Raiders as well as the Crimson Tide and SEC rival Oklahoma after receiving a pair of first-place votes and 682 total points. Texas Tech received 26 of the 31 first-place votes while picking up 768 points. The latest rankings reflect the SECโs continuing dominance.
Six of the top 10 teams come from the conference, and 10 SEC teams earned a spot in the poll. Texas A&M moved up two spots to No. 14.
After losing the SEC series against Alabama, Texas returns home for a critical three-game series against Oklahoma beginning Friday at McCombs Field.
