Butte’s big swings sink Bravettes late
BUTTE — Flathead showed early life but couldn’t match Butte’s timely swings in a 6-3 loss in AA softball on Monday evening. Trailing 1-0, the Bravettes jumped in front with a two-run second but couldn’t string together the next big hit. Sophia Torgison paced the lineup with two hits; Reese Rosenbaum added a hit and later scored, and McKenna Korf drove in a run.
Flathead managed four hits and stayed within reach into the middle innings, but left chances on the table as the game wore on. In the circle, Macey McIlhargey battled through four 2/3 innings to keep it tight before Butte found a late chain of hits. June Stickney came in relief to close it out.
Butte capitalized when it mattered. Gracie Jonart and Allie Becker helped set the tone with two runs scored apeice. Becker hit a two-run longball in the fifth inning to extend Butte’s lead 6-2.
