Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says he wants to secure a home tie after his side sealed a league play-off place.
Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says he is hoping to secure a home tie after his side sealed a play-off place in the Southern Combination Premier Division. The Green Lions' 8-1 victory against Forest Row at Victoria Park on Easter Monday - which included eight different goalscorers for Guernsey FC - means they have now racked up 120 goals in the league so far this campaign. Vance - who joined in 2011 - will be without a number of key players this weekend, however, as Guernsey's national team face Channel Island rivals Alderney in the semi-final of the Muratti Vase on Saturday.
Guernsey's national team are currently the defending champions of the Muratti after beating Jersey in last year's final, while Vance prepares his team for a trip to Wick in the league on Saturday. Guernsey FC seal play-off place with impressive 8-1 win "We've got a few slippery games coming up. We've got three away matches now and we've got to make sure we pick up as many points as we can," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.
"We've got a difficult one this weekend because it's the Muratti [in which he will lose players]. "We've got to find two teams, and there [are] going to be some players that are stretched, so that's our first tricky task if you like – but ultimately you've just got to keep winning. "I'm delighted we're in the play-offs because that's what we set out to achieve.
Now we've got to try and get home advantage. " New stadium 'a game-changer' for Guernsey FC It has been a successful season for Guernsey FC which has mainly been built on strong form on their home island. Vance's men moved into their new home at Victoria Park at the start of the season and have immediately settled into their new surroundings, winning 16 of their 18 home league games, and scoring 82 goals.
