Speaking about Busquets’ early years, Garrido revealed that the midfielder once had a trial with Villarreal as a teenager, a trial that ultimately did not go as expected. “Busquets went for a trial at Villarreal when he was 14 or 15, and I wasn’t there at the time because I was coaching the reserve team, but those in charge of the trial said he was a ball-hog. “He wasn’t a one- or two-touch central midfielder, but rather a tall attacking midfielder, and the thing is, with the way football evolves, you never know.
