Manchester United re-signs defender Harry Maguire
Manchester United signed English defender Harry Maguire to a new contract, the Red Devils announced Tuesday. The pact includes a one-year option.

Photo by Adam Vaughan/EPA April 7 (UPI) -- Manchester United signed English defender Harry Maguire to a new contract, the Red Devils announced Tuesday. The one-year deal will keep Maguire under contract through June 2027 and includes an option for another year.
Maguire was set to hit free agency at the end of this season. "Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honor," Maguire said in a news release. "It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.
"I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together. " Maguire joined the Red Devils in 2019. He made 266 appearances for the Premier League club.
The 33-year-old previously spent time with Leicester City, Hull City and Sheffield United. He also made 65 appearances for the England national team.
