The 2025-26 women's basketball season officially ended when UCLA gave the Big Ten its first national champion since Purdue in 1999 on Sunday, April 5. And that means the transfer portal is now open and the offseason officially begins. The Michigan State women's basketball program likely will have nearly half of its roster turn over for a second straight season as coach Robyn Fralick begins the process of building her team for 2026-27.

Grace VanSlooten, Emma Shumate, Abbey Kimball, Marah Dykstra and Jalyn Brown are all graduating and moving on. Brown indicated plans to put her name in the WNBA draft on Monday, April 6. MSU also has three players from this past season who have entered the transfer portal, with starter Ines Sotelo and reserves Juliann Woodard and Jordan Ode all exploring their options.

Then there is the case of Theryn Hallock, who went through senior day festivities with VanSlooten, Shumate, Kimball, Dykstra and Brown in February but was sidelined a majority of the season by a foot injury. She appeared in just eight games — none after Dec. 29 — and averaged 10.

6 points. Whether the former All-Big Ten performer is granted a redshirt and decides to return for another year is still to be determined. The Spartans could have as many as nine players gone from this year's roster when next season opens in November.
