Notre Dame men’s basketball had a good and bad day on Monday
Notre Dame men’s basketball got a mixed bag of news on Monday, as it lost a player to the portal and a coach, but will keep two of its players.
There was some bad for Notre Dame men’s basketball on Monday, and it all started with the transfer of guard Cole Certa . While it was an expected move , seeing him make an announcement to leave the program still hurt. He wasn’t the only one leaving South Bend, as associate head coach Kyle Getter has been hired as the head coach at Cal Baptist according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports .
He was one of head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s original hires, but he’ll leave a hole in the staff that will need to be filled. Ideally another coach who has lots of experience to ease the burden of Shrewsberry. There was some good news as well, as Notre Dame saw two of its players decided to return for next season.
First it was guard Braden Shrewsberry , which shouldn’t come as a surprise. His brother Nick will be on the roster this coming season, and to play for your father and share the court with your sibling was something he couldn’t pass up. The other player who opted to stay was guard Logan Imes .
While he’s more of a bench guy, having depth after seeing so many players leaving helps the bottom line. The offseason for the Irish has been quite a wild ride so far, and don’t expect it to stop as Notre Dame will have to add multiple players via the portal soon. senior season @BraedenShrews #GoIrish ☘️ | @Gatorade pic.
