John Glenn stuns Sheridan softball in 7th, April 6 top performers
John Glenn was down to its last strike against Sheridan in an early season showdown in softball, but the Muskies got hot at the right time.
THORNVILLE — Down to its last strike, John Glenn fans were headed to the exits. Then, the Kendall Snider and Co. gave them a reason to stop in their tracks.
Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh, Snider's single tied the game. It triggered a run of four straight hits that netted two more runs and a 4-2 win against host Sheridan in a key Muskingum Valley League-Big School win. Snider was on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel with Megan Ranck for 6 2/3 innings, but she wound up with the win after striking out 12 in a complete game.
Ranck took a shutout into the seventh and struck out eight. Addison Babcock tripled and singled twice and Estelle Matheney doubled for John Glenn (8-0); Lakelyn Haas had two singles for Sheridan (4-1). Burkhart, who also singled twice, scored three times out o the leadoff hole. Mia Metzger added two singles and three RBIs and Corrine Thompson two singles; Metzger also pitched a complete game to get the win. Paige Frame doubled and singled and Elyse Baker doubled home two runs for Crooksville.
