Eighth grader Jack Huffman earns D4 first team all-state hoops honors

HILLSDALE COUNTY โ Division 4 all-state awards have been announced for Michigan boys basketball for the 2025-26 season. Amongst the list of honorees across two different lists, three student-athletes in Hillsdale County (ISD) earned all-state honors at various tiers for their performances this winter sports season. The Michigan Sports Writers werenโt the only outlet to recognize his achievements. The Detroit Free Press named him to its third team all-state tier for Division 4 boys basketball. Huffman broke out with one of the more unique and rare seasons found in recent Michigan prep hoops โ now even more rare with a first-team all-state honor as an eighth grader.
Huffman helped lead Hillsdale Academy to a SCAA East title with a 14-0 mark. The Colts finished the regular season with a 22-3 overall record, a program high since their state semifinal appearance. Their team trophies also included a District 118 championship with wins over Reading (65-30) and Pittsford (72-41 in the title game).
They fell to the eventual D4 state champions from Concord in the Region 30 semifinals (49-40 final). His season earned him SCAA Dream Team honors, potentially the first for an eighth grader. He also earned the MVP SCAA East first team all-league honor.
