Despite knee discomfort, Rangers' Jacob deGrom looks the part with 'electric' start vs. Mariners
DeGrom allowed just one hit, a solo home run, in a sharp five-inning start that helped Texas begin an important series on a high note.
Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob Degrom delivers during the first inning during the first inning of a baseball game against the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Arlington. (Smiley N. Pool/The Dallas Morning News) ARLINGTON — If anything, Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom thought, the discomfort he felt in his right knee forced him to “stay under control” in his second start this season.
He looked the part. The 37-year-old pitched five innings of one-run ball in a 2-1 win vs. the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field Monday night in his 250th career start .
He “felt a little something in his knee” in the bullpen before the game, manager Skip Schumaker said, but still largely stymied the club’s American League West rivals in his first home start. “I was trying not to do too much,” deGrom said. “I didn’t want to aggravate it anymore.
Moving around now, I feel okay. It’s a little tender, but I think we’ll be okay. ” When the deGrom paint is so good they swear it wasn't a strike >>> 🎨 (via @Rangers | #AllForTX ) pic.
