Dusty May: Title for 'all the former Michigan players' who waited 37 years
Here's how coach Dusty May reacted to Michigan basketball's March Madness national championship win over UConn.
Michigan basketball coach Dusty May brought the Wolverines their second national championship despite being in just his second season as coach, and taking over a program-worst 8-24 team in 2024. No matter. May built a completely new team and made the Sweet 16 in 2024-25, then rebuilt it again for the March Madness crown, defeating the UConn Huskies, 69-63 , in the NCAA Tournament national championship game Monday, April 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
How did May react to the epic 37-3 season and the program's first title since 1989? "I want to shout-out all the former Michigan players, this was for them," he said to conclude his on-court TV interview immediately after the victory. Here's what else May, an Indiana native, said on the court at Lucas Oil Stadium.
