Local athletes return to the track
Local track and field athletes returned to competition after a layoff. Astoria hosted Warrenton and Tillamook on Thursday, April 2 for a dual meet. Over last weekend, Knappa took part in the Estacada Small School Invite and Oregon commit Jayden Warner took part in the elite Oregon Relays.
Here are some compete results for this past week in track Tillamook takes the win at Astoria Middle School The Tillamook track and field team took a victory over Astoria on Warrenton Thursday afternoon at Astoria Middle School. The Cheesemakers defeated Astoria 92 to 52 in their head-to-head competition and then defeated Warrenton by a score of 118 to 21 in the boys category. Tillamook girls also took the victory in both as they beat Astoria 82 to 55 and defeated Warrenton 108 to 10.
Astoria boys defeated Warrenton by a score of 103. 5 to 31. 5 and Astoria defeated Warrenton 101 to 11.
Individual standouts for Astoria on the track included Dominick Cayetano Cruz in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Cruz won both events and set a season best of 24. 06 in the 200 meters.
Turner Boslar ran a personal best of 4:41. 97 in the boys 1500 meters. This was good enough for second place behind Tillamook senior Ryan Sheets.
