The Boston Red Sox have struggled early in the season, and Caleb Durbin's early woes have been at the forefront after the Red Sox made a huge trade to acquire him in the offseason.

Going into Monday's game against his former team, Durbin was 2-for-28. He was a Rookie of the Year candidate last season and was the everyday third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers, who won more games than any team in baseball. Going into the game, his former manager, Pat Murphy, compared his early woes to Red Sox legend Dustin Pedroia.

"I donโ€™t worry about that kid. Donโ€™t lose sleep over his lack of numbers so far," Murphy said of Durbin before the game, per Rob Bradford. "I knew another kid who played for Boston and started slow, and heโ€™s going to get his number put up there someday.

" Pedroia won an MVP Award, two World Series, four Gold Gloves, a Silver Slugger and earned four All-Star selections in his 14 seasons with the Red Sox. He played for Murphy at Arizona State, and the two have a close relationship. Murphy is not wrong in saying Pedroia struggled early on.
