Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire suggests FOX is missing out if it doesn't make Tech-Houston a 'Big Noon Kickoff' focal point.

Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire is questioning how much economic harm Lubbock would face with the prospect of a Red Raiders game being moved from a Saturday to a Friday night this season. McGuire also says television executives are "missing an opportunity" by not making this season's Texas Tech-Houston game at Jones Stadium the centerpiece of its "Big Noon Kickoff" pre-game show, a Saturday staple. Texas Tech University System Board of Regents chairman Cody Campbell told the Avalanche-Journal last week that FOX Sports is moving the Tech-Houston game from Saturday, Sept.

19, to Friday night, Sept. 18. "I know it's great for ratings and so it's awesome that our brand is going to be the brand on Friday night," McGuire said on Monday, April 6, in response to a question from the A-J.

"I understand the TV part. I understand the money behind that, so I get all that. I understand TV and our commissioner and the conference's stance.

"But we're forgetting, too, we're going to put a lot on our fans to make sure we've got that game sold out. How much money are we losing in the city of Lubbock playing on Friday night?
