The Boston Red Sox acquired Caleb Durbin from the Milwaukee Brewers in a six-player deal this offseason, and one of the players sent to the Brewers was Shane Drohan.
Drohan, a left-handed pitcher, became the Brewers' No. 25 prospect after the trade. On Monday, the Brewers announced he was being called up for his big league debut, with left-handed pitcher Jared Koenig going on the injured list.
Drohan failed to make the team out of spring training, but now he is getting an opportunity. His role is still undefined. He was primarily a starter for the Red Sox organization last year, making 11 starts in Triple-A.
He made one start for the Brewers in Triple-A before getting called up. He gave up two earned runs in his 3 1/3 innings of work in that outing. He made four appearances this spring and posted a 4.
