Michigan football's new receiver Jaime Ffrench ready to make plays
Michigan football's new wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, a transfer from Texas, is expected to boost the Wolverines' pass game.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The old era of Michigan football's ground and pound is coming to a close. And though there will certainly be an emphasis on running the football in Ann Arbor, the expectation under new head coach Kyle Whittingham is that the pass game will take a big step forward.
But, given what the maize and blue had in the receiver room, they needed to bring in more bodies who could help with that. Enter Jaime Ffrench, a second-year player who started out his career at Texas. Ffrench redshirted a year ago in Austin, having appeared in four games with one catch for six yards.
So, when the Wolverines came calling, Ffrench was listening and recognized that it could be a better place for him. "Man, just simply better opportunities," Ffrench said. "I love my guys at Texas, the opportunities at Texas was great too, but I feel like here at Michigan is a better opportunity with me knowing, you know, Marsh and Bryce as well.
Just, I feel like the move over is just everything I was looking for. " At Whittingham's first spring ball press conference, he listed Ffrench as one of four receivers who would get the opportunity to start right away (along with Andrew Marsh, JJ Buchanan, and freshman Salesi Moa). Of course, spring ball was just starting then, so now he's had the chance to show what he can do.
