TOPEKA โ€” The spring sports scene is starting to take shape for Shawnee County. The top athletes are making plays on the diamond, while fast times and marks are being accomplished on the track. It's now time to vote for the Envista Federal Credit Union's athlete of the week for March 30-April 4.

Voting closes at noon on Friday. Here are the nominees. If there is a player from the area who has made an impact this week, send nominees with stats to Liam Keating at lkeating@gannett.

He finished with a time of 4:11, which has him ranked No. 1 in the state in this event. London Backman, Topeka High softball The shortstop led the team with four RBIs and four hits, including a double and a triple, in the Trojans' 14-2 win against Abilene on Tuesday, March 31.
