Rutgers Baseball loses another Big Ten series vs. Indiana

The Scarlet Knights drop another series in Big Ten play.

Rutgers began the Big Ten schedule with two wins against Michigan State. Since then, the Scarlet Knights have struggled in conference play and just lost their third straight series in Big Ten play. Rutgers split the first two games before losing the series on Sunday against Indiana in Bloomington.

Game One The action kicked off on Friday from Bart Kaufman Field but Rutgers did not show up until the next day. After a scoreless tie into the bottom of the third, Indiana took a 2-0 lead that ballooned to 6-0 in the third. Rutgers fell 11-0 in a seven inning game to kick off the series.

The Scarlet Knights mustered just three hits with two coming from Peyton Bonds. Indiana got to Zack Konstantinovsky in the fourth inning. He got through four allowing eight hits and six runs.

Game Two Rutgers entered the second game needing to eliminate any thought of Friday night. It did not happen at first as the Scarlet Knights fell behind 5-1 in the fifth inning. Rutgers rallied for six runs over the final two innings to secure a 9-6 win to even the series.
