Big takeaways from the Steelers picks in new NFL Network mock draft

Yahoo Sports

This new mock draft on NFL Network goes five rounds and it's got good and bad for the Steelers picks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have eight picks in the first five rounds of the 2026 NFL draft. This type of draft capital means there's a real chance the Steelers trade up, perhaps on Day Two but in the new five-round mock draft on NFL Network, they make all the picks and we have some thoughts. First round - OT Blake Miller - Clemson I only have 17 players with a first-round grade and there's no way Miller is among them.

There's no way, if I'm GM Omar Khan, I'm taking the sixth-best offensive tackle in the draft here. Not with wide receivers Makai Lemon or Jordyn Tyson on the board. In fact, I'm not taking Miller over Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu.

Second round - WR Zachariah Branch - Georgia There's no denying Branch is an exciting player even if he's going to remind fans an awful lot of other receivers this team has or have had in the past who didn't pan out. If the Steelers get the first round right and draft a receiver there, this pick is better used on another position. Third round - QB Carson Beck - Miami Fans are pretty divided on whether the Steelers should draft a quarterback at all so plenty will hate this pick.

Beck was much better in 2025 than his critics give him credit for but an underwhelming CFB performance is fresh in team's minds. Third round - LB Harold Perkins Jr. - LSU The Steelers have shown an interest in Perkins, which means if they could get him, it's a real possibility.
