Matt Able entering transfer portal

He’s also testing the NBA Draft waters, but in all likelihood will be playing college basketball next season, just not in Raleigh.
All you can really ask after a coaching change is that the players still on the team give time enough to meet with the new head coach, and Able did that. No amount of change is going to surprise me in these situations, and anyway, he may have been out the door regardless. Obviously there are many more considerations these days beyond the coach, and it’s certainly possible that his asking price is too steep for a program with a bunch of holes to fill.
He’ll be expecting an expanded role wherever he goes next, and I won’t be surprised if he has a very good year. We saw the flashes. Sorry to see him go but wish him the best at his next school.
