Since then, pretty much none of the dominoes that followed for Boston have worked out the way they would've hoped. Start with the initial return for Devers: Kyle Harrison and James Tibbs III. The Red Sox traded Tibbs to the Dodgers at the trade deadline for half a season of Dustin May, who wasn't any good and has since joined the St.

Louis Cardinals . Boston traded Harrison (and more) to the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason for Caleb Durbin to play third base, and Durbin has been one of the worst hitters in baseball in the early going. The only reason the Red Sox needed Durbin in the first place is because of Alex Bregman. They signed Bregman last offseason, moving Devers off third base and ticking him off, leading to the trade. Then after the year, Bregman opted out of his deal and signed with the Chicago Cubs .
