Clemson softball drops Game 3, loses ACC series to Virginia Tech
Clemson softball took one game against Virginia Tech, but dropped the next two to lose the series.
Clemson softball’s power showed up again on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a big night from No. 11 Virginia Tech, as the Tigers dropped the series finale 10-5 in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech took control early and never really let go.
After Clemson missed a chance in the opening frame, the Hokies quickly capitalized in the bottom half, pushing three runs across to grab momentum right away. That set the tone for the rest of the night, with Clemson playing from behind the entire game. The Tigers did respond with some pop at the plate.
Freshman Sarah Breaux delivered a two-run homer in the second inning, continuing her strong weekend, while Taylor Pipkins and Corri Hicks each added solo shots later in the game. Breaux finished with two hits, and Clemson managed six total, but they couldn’t string together enough offense to keep pace. Virginia Tech’s lineup proved to be the difference.
The Hokies piled up 10 hits and got multiple home runs of their own, including key blasts that answered Clemson every time it threatened. Addison Foster led the charge with a three-hit performance, while Annika Rohs and Nora Abromavage each turned in multi-hit efforts as well. In the circle, Clemson ace Sierra Maness didn’t have her usual command.
