Wisconsin basketball star John Blackwell to enter NCAA transfer portal

Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball star John Blackwell plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello . While entering the portal, Blackwell is also declaring for the NBA draft process. Borzello notes Blackwell "becomes the best guard in the portal" after his decision shocked Badgers fans on April 6.

Officially, the transfer portal opens on Tuesday, April 7. Longtime head coach Greg Gard knew he'd have his work cut out for him without Nick Boyd going into next season, but now Blackwell could play his final collegiate season outside of Madison. The Bloomfield Hills, MI, native has appeared in 105 games for the Badgers since the 2023-24 season.
