Green Devils hold off solid Family Christian team, while St. Michael pitching stops PHS in a District 6-4A showdown.

A tough battle against a small school, coupled with a loss to a solid district rival and a strong team from Acadiana highlighted action for the Plaquemine Green Devils last week. PLAQUEMINE 3, FAMILY CHRSITIAN, 2: Pitcher Jackson Jeansonneโ€™s 10 strikeouts helped the Green Devils turn back a much-improved Family Christian squad from Baton Rouge. A one-run RBI off a single-grounder put the Crusaders ahead 1-0 in the first, but the Green Devils responded with three runs in the bottom of the second.

A Kelan Honore single off a bunt drove home Slade Sparks, who reached base on a walk and stole second. Honore scored in the second off a Logan Sanchez single to the shortstop, while Javion Pinkney scored off a steal at home. ST.

MICHAEL 2, PLAQUEMINE 0: Pitching ruled the evening in the battle of District 6-4A rivals last week in Baton Rouge, which ended in a one-hitter for St. Michael pitcher Bryce Warthen. Neither team could gain much advantage until the bottom of the second, when Jude Knapps scored on a wild pitch scored on a wild pitch.

Both teams went three-across over the next two innings until Graves beat the count to score in the bottom of the fifth. ERATH 8, PLAQUEMINE 2: Six runs in the top of the second gave Erath the momentum it needed to stifle the Green. Devils, 8-2, in non-district action.
