Jonathan Rea shares his view on Pedro Acosta as Ducati deal edges closer

There’s been a lot of talk about Acosta making the move to Ducati in 2027, with plenty of debate over how he’ll stack up against someone like Marquez. Acosta has long dreamed of riding alongside Marquez, and it now appears that dream is only a year away from being realised.

Many feel that Acosta is hitting his stride at just the right time, with his performances over the last two seasons suggesting he’s entering his prime. The timing of a potential switch to Ducati seems ideal. Acosta’s progress hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Rea highlighted Acosta’s talent and competitiveness, pointing out that he fits right in with the new generation coming through.

He also spoke about how the sport is changing and how young riders like Acosta are leading that shift. “He is an incredible talent, one of those who belong in the new generation. It will be interesting to see how he grows in the coming years.

He has always been very competitive, and I like his approach from the lower categories. “I see a super-talented driver in him, and I think we’ll see him grow even further. He already looks like a Ducati rider for the next few years, and so, there is a lot of curiosity.
